Giorgio Melandri, reputed journalist and Gourmet, and one of the curators of the Gambero Rosso guide, was among the firsts to write about CorteBianca. His tasting notes were presented in the occasion of the launch of our ExtraBrut back in 2011. He is back on the subject on the pages of www.thespaghettijunction.it, where - together with like-minded fellows such as Alessandro Bocchetti and Giulio Bagnale - he treat the argument of Italian food and wine in an unconventional way. His judgement - three years after launch - is more than posive, as the title suggest.

CorteBianca has been awarded "Eco-Friendly 2014", the "Vini buoni d'Italia" and "Verialia" (a green company which partners with the Touring Club of Italy) award given to the companies that demonstrate a consistent dedication to green and sustainable policies. A confirmation of the value of the 100% organic and green choice of our company.
The "blind test", where the sommeliers taste without the help of any presentation, indication, or label, has always been the toughest exam for any wine. It recently happened to our wines, which entered the blind tests of TASTED (www.tastedjournal.com), the publication of two of the most important international sommeliers: the German Markus del Monego (German) and the Swedish Andreas Larsson. The outcomes have been excellent. Our CorteBianca Satèn 2008 reached the score of 90 points, with a note enhancing its structure, its perfume of nutshells, lemon, yellow fruits. The CorteBianca Rosé 2008 scored 89.5 points, with a note about the colour and the complexity of the nose, with taste of red berries, with a taste that has been described as "always fresh and vibrant". While the ExtraBrut get a score of 86 points, and Markus del Monego points out the £elegance and expression" of its perfume, and its balance.
The results will be published in the TASTED edition which will be published in the occasion of two important events in the world of wine: ProWein and Vinitaly.
The recently published world-class Tom Stevenson Christie's guide has not only given our wines a very high score of 82 points, which brings them at the level of the best Franciacorta, but on top of that it has made use of some flattering words to describe our young enterprise. Here is the integral text:
"CorteBianca is an exciting new Franciacorta house. The first wines were made in 2008 and brought to market in 2011. Currently they make their own wine from only a part of the 4.5 hectares they cultivate, all certified organic. A very impressive beginning, with a lovely, creamy/yeasty, refined style. Classy presentations.
*Franciacorta Extra Brut
Not vintaged, traditional method: 95% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Noir
* Franciacorta Satèn
Vintaged, traditional method: 100% Chardonnay
** Franciacorta Rosé
Vintaged, saigneé, traditional method: 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay
CorteBianca is born out of a wish. To bring the fields, the vines and the woods back to their full balance. To give nature back the possibility to express itself its potential and richness.
ATTRAVERSO is the tale of this journey that initiated ten years ago. A journey that we offer to all the "Franciacortando" guests who will visit CorteBianca too (on the 1st and the 2nd of June). We have designed and realized a small journey which will enable us to discover the geo-morphological and climatic context in which our grapes are born: the spontaneous plants and grass that grow between the vines and the fields - and to demonstrate that our job is simply to protect and respect nature.
We'll take a walk through the vines of Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, along the border of spontaneous trees alongside the "Path of the Corne and the Visidelle" that goes through the wood and ends in front to the fruit trees, the olive trees and our vegetable garden. We aim to offer a walk through the "biodiversity" of the Franciacorta land and of the CorteBianca landscape, in which we are building a new ethical relationship with nature.
Parts of old barrels, recovered from the canteen, will become signposts, as well as a visual supports.A series of images that tell the smallest and least known dimension of the plants, the flowers, the insects, will be projected on a screen, and the "herbarium" collected by the naturalist Aldo Avogadri will be on display in the courtyard.
The setting is curated by Studio Aura and the design by Dinamomilano.
Our trusted companion in this adventure have been, as usual, our agronomist Pierluigi Donna and our oenologist Leonardo Valenti. Together with Professor Aldo Avogadri we all share a belief: that a great wine is born from a great grape. And the grapes have to be surrounded by a Nature that is free to express itself. This is what we try to achieve at CorteBianca. Wine is simply the last ring of a long chain: ambient conditions, the work in the canteen and in the vineyards. And the surrounding environment. It's a new way of thinking, which is spreading and finding consent. Some call it stewardship. We like to think of it simply as love and dedication to the land.
“We feel at ease in wild Nature, as it doesn't have any opinion on us whatsoever”
(Friedrich Nietzsche)
From Taste...
Only a few days have passed from Taste, the Florentine "Salon" dedicated to the very best in Food, Wine and Lifestyle, organized by the "Gastronaut" Davide Paolini. It has been a a successful experience, with more than 14 thousands visitors, and 3500 buyers, from more than 40 countries.
"Our booth has been visited by a massive number of people, and also many operators and buyers, and they all tasted and appreciated our wines. On top of that, all the bottles we had in the shop - around 60 - sold out. What really hit us was the success of our Rosè. For sure the most appreciated one". This is perfectly in line with the sales trend of the Franciacorta Rosè: plus 50% overall in 2012.
...to ProWein.
